Resize Without Stretching - Drag to Choose What Gets Kept

Most image resizers just stretch your photo to fit the target size, which makes it look distorted. This tool works differently — when the target size has a different shape than your image, it shows you exactly what will be cropped and lets you drag the crop box to choose which part of the photo to keep.

Everything runs in your browser. Your images are never uploaded to any server, which matters when you are resizing personal photos or confidential files.

  • By Percentage

    Scale your image down to 25%, 50%, 75% or 90% of its original size. The full image is kept — no cropping. Aspect ratio is always maintained automatically.

  • Custom Pixels

    Enter any width and height in pixels. Lock the aspect ratio to resize proportionally, or unlock it to set exact dimensions. Choose crop or stretch mode when sizes do not match.

Crop Mode vs Stretch Mode

  • Crop Mode (recommended)

    The image fills the target size by trimming the parts that do not fit. The dimmed area in the preview shows exactly what will be cut. Drag the preview to reposition which part is kept. Each uploaded image can have its own crop position.

  • Stretch Mode

    The entire image is squeezed or pulled to fit the exact target size. Use this only when you specifically need every part of the image in the output, and distortion is acceptable — for example in some technical use cases.

Not if you use crop mode or percentage resize. When the target size has a different aspect ratio, the tool crops the image from center by default — no stretching. You can drag the preview to reposition exactly which part gets kept. If you want stretching, turn on the Stretch toggle.

Crop mode fills the target size by cutting off parts of the image that do not fit — like zooming in and trimming the edges. Stretch mode squishes or pulls the entire image to fit the target size, which can make it look distorted. Crop mode is recommended for social media images.

Photos from modern smartphones are often 3000x4000 pixels or larger. Resizing to 1200px wide or less reduces the file size significantly while keeping the image clear for most uses.
